JCR-Tech: Electronics Design & Development, Pre-Compliance Evaluation, & Specialist Repair Service

Based in Burleigh Heads in Queensland, JCR-Tech offers a broad range of electronic engineering services including electronic design, product development, product compliance, and manufacturing acceptance testing.

We also offer a premium, traditional, highly skilled component level repair service with a focus on equipment & instrumentation, professional audio, electronic musical instruments and Hi-Fi with rapid turnaround.

We have a vast stock of rare and/or obsolete parts, and an extensive library of service manuals and data. We can service and repair vintage / analog electronic devices using Vacuum Tubes (Valves) with point-to-point wiring, to devices using the latest technologies requiring surface mount rework, and hot air reflow.

We specialise in electronics design, electronic research and development, independent product evaluation, and offer specialist electronic service and repair. We can provide a consultancy service to provide production testing solutions, and can design and construct custom testing fixtures from simple mechanical jigs to embedded microprocessor controlled fixtures.

For both electronic and mechanical prototyping, we have a very well equipped electronics lab, and also have an in-house industrial workshop with full metal turning, plastic turning, milling, plastic welding, MIG, TIG & PUK welding. We can design and manufacture custom solutions, provide electro/mechanical prototyping services, manufacture custom parts and components, as well as make replacement parts for unsupported or obsolete devices, products or machinery.

We can help you or your company with EMI/EMC compliance testing for C-Tick approval. If your existing prototype device has failed compliance testing, we can review the design and provide recommendations, make changes and provide before / after test results  to help get your device through the testing process.

We can also undertake a full EMI/EMC pre-compliance analysis and evaluation of new designs or devices (or imported products in preparation for compliance testing) to uncover and help resolve any issues prior to undertaking costly formal compliance testing.

We can undertake both radiated and conducted emissions testing. Conducted emissions can be both low voltage DC and 240V AC depending on your requirements.

With over 20 years electronics design, repair and service experience, we able to undertake component level diagnostics and repairs to electronic instrumentation and control systems. Having a formal design background, we are often able to repair “obsolete” or “unfixable” devices or instruments, and where required can even design and supply custom made replacement mechanical parts, replacement boards or modules in place of obsolete boards or modules – saving companies the massive expense of replacing an entire machine or updating a production line.

We also offer a specialist pro-audio, Hi-Fi and electronic musical instrument repair service. We can undertake repairs to PA systems, sound reinforcement systems, DJ equipment, lighting, guitar amplifiers, effects peddles, mixing consoles, interface cards, piano keyboards, synthesizers, organs, tone-wheel Hammonds, Leslie rotary speakers.

We have a large library of service manuals and a massive stock of hard-to-source components for repairs to unusual electronic instruments.

We are comfortable working with any era or technology from valves to the latest digital / DSP systems. We are always interested in hearing from musicians with unique requirements and challenges. We have also designed a number of modules specifically for retro-fitting MIDI interfaces into old instruments, including optical based key velocity sensing for tonewheel Hammond organs.
